Dawid’s love for drawing started in High School where his natural ability to work with proportions and perspectives made him excel in technical drawings.
His career started in the printing industry as graphic designer, but soon afterwards he went on to work in architectural practices as Architectural Technologist for about 15 years. After many years of producing technical as well as presentation drawings digitally, the tragic loss of his sister in 2009 and father in 2013 had a huge impact on his career and personal life.
In 2015 he found painting & drawing (by hand) to be the only way of “escaping” reality thus moving forward small creative steps at a time. As time went by, his artwork went through many stages as he managed to work through challenging times, but it has also developed to a point where he currently finds great pleasure in drawing architectural buildings in graphite / pen on paper. His career in architecture makes this a natural subject choice and having done many digital architectural visualisations / 3d renderings over the years, understanding tonal values, shading, proportions, etc., is evident in his work. Although he is still involved in a modern day architectural office, it is his passion to keep the art of hand drawn architecture alive.
Dawid currently works from his home studio in Tulbagh in the Western Cape, South-Africa.
