Bartel Viljoen Architects asked me to assist with the design of a marketing brochure for a proposed project in Stellenbosch named "Dorp 2", on the corner of Dorp and Adam Tas Streets.
I started out by designing a logo, illustrating vertical window slots which features on the Adam Tas Street side of the building. These elements also became prominent design features on all brochure pages.
Artist Impressions always feature in proposed architectural projects and these renderings of the proposed building was created in Archicad by Jacques Brand at Bartel Viljoen Architect after which I used Photoshop to place it in the realistic environment, and Adobe Lightroom for colour enhancing. Time was limited so we decided to keep detailed work to a minimum without compromising on quality.
Here are some of the pages including maps designed to show the Locality, Micro Locality & CBD Locality Plans:
Project Architects & Developers:
In 2011, while working for Albertyn Viljoen Nortjé Architects (AVNA), we had an idea for a AVNA 5 year birthday celebration booklet of which I did the graphic design and page layout. Unfortunately it was never published, but I finished most of it and it's worth sharing the amazing projects that I was involved with as either Architectural Technologist, 3d Artist, Graphic Designer or Photographer.
I received a brief to design the new signage for Victoria Corner Medical & Dental in Newcastle, KZN, South-Africa. The client wanted graphic designs for signage for the reception area, main signage for the facade of the building as well as signage for the boundary wall.
I also had to design a new logo for Veronica van Niekerk Physiotherapist and redesign Dr. Van Niekerk's logo to fit in with the planned signage and branding. Their logo's were used to create signages for the reception area, laser-cut from stainless steel.
This logo design process started out with concept hand sketches and developed into more detailed sketches, watercolour illustrations and eventually computer generated images.
Veronica's logo also ended up being used in the signage of her practice:
Graphisoft South Africa hosted a Client Design Competition for a new logo for the ArchiCAD SADC region.
Herewith part of the brief: "We have this year introduced the ArchiCAD Client Design Competition. It forms part of our localisation and celebration of local Architect Users campaign. We hope that it will highlight the excellence that is prevalent in the local ArchiCAD user community and will further inspire the localisation program, by identifying ArchiCAD users to the local manufacturer fraternity. We further want to identify ArchiCAD in SADC, with a unique ArchiCAD symbol or identity, which will set us apart from ArchiCAD in other countries and regions of the world."
